Pain in the absence of physical signs is often difficult to appreciate,
therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to present our approach
to chiropractic care. There are essentially two very different
approaches to chiropractic; one is more holistic and philosophical
while the other is more evidence-based and biomechanical in nature.
My approach at the Chiropractic Performance Centre is what may be termed Modern Chiropractic; a blend of the evidence
based science while retaining the essence of holistic health care.
In a biomechanical approach, the focus is on joint motion and the
cause of any dysfunction. I believe that 90% of all musculo-skeletal injuries are caused
by repetitive micro-trauma (little things you do wrong) and that
only 10% of injuries are caused by macro-trauma (car accidents,
sport injuries).
My practice is not built on maintenance care, but more on education
about ergonomic / physical stresses which may affect your function
and performance. Recognizing ways to alleviate these stresses is
critical for long term health.
I hold degrees in Physical Education and was an athletic therapist with various athletic teams including the University of Alberta, McGill University and most notably Hockey Canada.
I graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1995 and in 2004
was awarded a post-doctorate specialty in Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation from the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada).
I am former competitive athlete (track & field,
soccer, hockey) and now try to appreciate the game of golf.
I look forward to working with you towards your good health.
